In my opinion Mrs. Radach was ahead of her time!.  During a class with her, she gave us what I consider some of the best advice I received from a teacher.  She said every young lady should learn how to do something to support herself. Recognizing that this was a time when the primary goal of many young women was marriage, she explained that any young lady might be faced with death or disability of her husband and  be called upon to support herself and family. Thanks, Mrs. Radach!  May you rest in peace.

I think that both Mrs. Radach and her Home Ec colleague Miss Guske were looking forward for the girls they taught.  My mother died in July 1965, just before the start of my younger sister's sophomore Home Ec year, and Mrs. Radach was especially helpful and watchful of her in that time.

In our sophomore year, there were a couple of early marriages, and as we responded to them with showers and gifts, I think our Home Ec teachers were anticipating the possibility of a wave of them, and wanted to make us aware that ideal domesticity was seldom right around the corner.  Yes, our teachers were visionary, innovative, involved, and we were so fortunate to have them.
